A Photovoltaic Based Smart and Portable Street Lighting System

The project’s focus is on the application of smart street lightening system that is based on set up of Photovoltaic cells. Our reason for choosing the technique of Arduino is to control intensity of flood light. The use of Sunlight is the main power source of this project and for backup, battery will be used. The use of GPS system will be brought into action in order to deal with the emergency situation. We use counter to count visitors and flood light will on and off according to the detection of visitor .In order to detect the visitors, PIR sensor will be used. The visitor counter will be displayed on an LCD. The LDR system will help us control the ON and OFF set up of lights, as the lights will be off during the day time and will automatically switch on at night. A mobile project is introduced in order to facilitate the users. This single piece of work is in actual a combo, a two in one project that not only deals with the automation of street lighting system but also focuses on efficient application of street lights. The energy crisis has become a talk of the town in Pakistan and that is one of the critical issues now a days. The street lights consume much energy, resultantly lead to the lump sum energy loss. The current study reveals that smart street lighting systems are developed to make sure the efficient working of street lighting and reduce consumption of electric energy. The infrared sensors plunge into action when the detectors find no movement around, by dimming the street lights; this is how the auto intensity light control helps. The systems that are designed in similar way to that of ours, they have efficient applications that not only achieve energy saving but also extend the service life of street lighting equipment.
